How Many Have I Touched? Have I Touched You?
Ahh, the decades. They do fly. The days may seem long, the nights eternal, but the years? They flash by like a slideshow in my mind.
I think back on so many things; my family, friends, lovers, names, faces, and influences on my life.
Songs come to mind as well, I suppose like scents, they remind me of eras, of passions, of anger; snapshots of a life well lived.
Poems, and lyrics, novels and melodies, they crash in and out of my consciousness.
Our lifespan is so finite, so invisible in the enormity. So few will make a difference.
I often wonder about why, why we are here. And a wise man once told me, "There are no answers."
He was right.
There is thought, possibility, but no one has yet to answer why. Why are we here?
In my life, a poetic timeline behind me, how many more days ahead, I don't know...
But I hope I have touched others in a good way.
Each day is a promise, each night is a dream.
We go through it alone or together, but we share one thing.
We are human. We are fragile. We are not immortal.
And in some way good or bad, we have touched another in our path.
So? What traces have we left behind? When we pass on, what endures and what is blown away by the wind of time? Many of the people in my life have made an impact on me. How many have I touched? Have I touched you?
